About Us

Swadhina (Self-esteemed Women),established in 1986, is primarily a civil society organization focused on Empowerment of women & Child Development based on Sustainable Development and Right Livelihood. At Swadhina, we believe that positive social change has a direct impact on the lives of women and that change is possible only through an equal and spontaneous participation of Women. As we move ahead towards a new time, we focus on a world of equal opportunities.We strive to empower marginalized families by empowering women. We look forward to a social framework where every marginalized child would have equal access to better living.

Swadhina has a well-equipped central office at Kolkata from where management and administration activities take place. Apart from that, each project area has a Local Office based at the rural project level, headed by local rural co-ordinators. One of the strength areas of Swadhina is the local Women’s Committees based at the village level. Each rural Women’s Committee has it’s own Governing Body. Swadhina has an effective communications department and a very able,fully computerised finance department to conduct projects as per international norms.
